Regarding his wife Beatrice's religious name, Suzuki wrote in Shōren Bukkyō shōkan: "'Shōren' was the name she received from temple head Master Tenshin Hirota during her practice at Engaku-ji. She was occasionally referred to by this name." Written by Keishu Itō (1881-1935), former chief priest at Kinkaku-ji Temple.
